About RBA - Our History
Robert Betz Associates, Inc., (RBA) was established in 1982 by its founder, Robert Betz, Ph.D. Located near the nation's capitol, the firm was aligned to specialize in federal health care policy issues long before they were prominent issues on the public policy agenda.
Professional services were first limited to government relations offered to several state hospital associations in the South. Soon services were expanded to include communications as national health care clients requested more information about federal policymaking activities. By the mid-1980s, the firm brought on board legal expertise, lobbyists, and education and communications specialists. The firm was now uniquely qualified to provide a wide range of information and strategic advice, policy analysis, issue advocacy and representation services.
Over the years, RBA has provided a direct voice for many types of health care organizations and corporations which felt under-represented or disconnected from the policymaking process. Since the beginning, RBA has prided itself on providing unfiltered information to senior business executives with the aim of helping them affect the challenges often faced in the political realm.
Into the 1990s, RBA was requested by its clients to add association management to its portfolio of professional services. Dr. Betz agreed to serve as the chief executive officer and chief spokesperson for two national trade associations - positions of responsibility that he still holds today.
Shaping public policy in the 21st century requires identifying opportunities to make an impact and the experience to go along with that. RBA has that experience and expertise.
Over the years, RBA has had numerous professional relationships with very prominent organizations and corporations. Some of RBA's clients have been on contract for over two decades. The firm has expanded several times to meet the demands of its clients. RBA currently serves health care organizations and corporations in the United States, United Kingdom, Spain, Holland, Japan, Australia, Canada, Sweden, Thailand and Singapore.
